DynamicTrail Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 23, 2026

DynamicTrail ("the app") is published by Simard Software. It helps riders and clubs map and share ATV, snowmobile, bike, and running trails. This page explains what information the app collects and how it's used.

Information we collect

How we use this information

We use the information above only to operate the app's core features: displaying the map and your location, recording and saving trails and waypoints, showing groomer and shared-rider positions on the map, and letting club officers/trail masters review and approve content submitted to the trail systems they manage, and diagnosing crashes and errors. We do not use your data for advertising, and the app contains no advertising and no third-party analytics SDKs beyond the Sentry crash reporting described above.

Sharing

Trails and waypoints you submit to a public trail system are visible to other users of the app, the same way they would be on a public trail map.

Sharing a ride

Rides you record are private unless you deliberately share them, and you control who with:

People you share a ride with can view it only — they cannot edit it or pass it on. Separately, you may choose to submit part of a ride to a trail system as a proposed trail. That is a deliberate, separate action: the segment you pick becomes a normal public map contribution for that club to approve or reject, and the rest of your ride is not included.

We do not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for marketing purposes. Crash reports are processed on our behalf by Sentry (sentry.io) solely to help us diagnose and fix problems. We may disclose information if required to do so by law.

Live location sharing

Two features broadcast a live position on the map, both entirely optional:

Both can be stopped at any time from within the app. If not stopped manually, a session automatically expires and its last known position is no longer shown. We do not keep a historical trail of these live positions — only the most recent position is stored while a session is active, and it is discarded once the session ends or expires.

Data retention and your choices

Content you submit remains associated with your account until removed by you or by an authorized club officer/administrator for the trail system it belongs to. Live location data is retained only for the duration described above.

Deleting your account: you can delete your account at any time from inside the app (profile button → Delete Account), or by following the steps at dynamictrail.com/delete-account. Deletion permanently removes your sign-in account, your recorded rides and any shares of them, your trail reviews, event RSVPs, club memberships, and any live-location data. Trails and waypoints you contributed to public trail systems remain on the map — including any segment you submitted from a ride — but your name and account id are removed from them.

Children's privacy

DynamicTrail is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Authentication is handled by a dedicated identity provider (Keycloak) — the app and its servers never see or store your password directly.
